A COA typically involves
On average a COA requires about 4-8 hours of "Bench Time" (hours actively working on the instrument), This does not include "resting" time or time "playing in" each adjustment etc.
* Replacement of pads is an additional charge.
** Instruments which have not had a complete COA in 3 years or more will often require an additional 1-2 hours labour (at $150/hour) and possibly a few pads. Please keep this in mind when consulting the prices listed below.

On average an overhaul requires about 35-45 hours of "Bench Time" (hours actively working on the instrument), This does not include "resting" time or any time "playing in" each adjustment etc.
*Wooden bodies and heads are oiled. We use manufacturer recommended, natural, peanut and nut-free oils for oiling. If you have any food allergies, please make sure this is noted with us!
Overhauls typically take approximately 4-5 weeks to complete (shipping time not included)

COA Pricing (not including parts/shop supplies) starting at:
Flutes: Step-up & Intermediate with standard felt pads such as: Azumi, Di Zhao, Gemeinhardt, Jupiter & Powell Sonaré 100-600 series & Yamaha 300-400 Series.
Piccolos: with felt pads and plastic/composite body.
All wood body piccolos are charged at "Professional /handmade" pricing regardless of level due to the wood care required at service.
Haynes Q series, Resona 100-300 series, & Yamaha 600-700 series flutes etc. Any flutes with Straubinger Phoenix or similar style specialty pads.
This includes any "intermediate" flutes which use / have been retrofitted with Straubinger "Classic", Pisoni S2 or Gold pads.
Add $75.00 for all flutes without adjustment screw regulations. (Typically: Burkart, Haynes, Nagahara, Powell)
Burkart (including Resona), Hammig, Haynes, Keefe, Nagahara Mini, Pettry, Powell, Yamaha 6x/8x etc. Any wood piccolo falls into this category regardless of the retail cost of the instrument.

Open Hole, C or B foot, Lucien Deluxe woven felt pads.
(For flutes retailing new for under $3500.00 CAD)
Professional quality Pisoni Lucien Deluxe felt pads ordered directly from Italy are used. These pads are available in either "woven" or "pressed" style felt. Original Sankyo & Muramatsu felt pads are also available on request for those instruments.
These precision pads are now standard on many semi-handmade and handmade flutes including: Brannen, Burkart (including Resona) , Haynes, Miyazawa, Powell (Including Sonaré) etc.
Available for Muramatsu flutes only.
Conversion from the older style pads to the new "Lotus" style is an additional $500.00 charge (parts included). Only Muramatsu flutes manufactured from 1988 onward are able to be converted to the new Lotus system. Kim / KJWR is an Muramatsu Authorized Technician

General Service is intended to solve immediate issues (regulation, damaged pads, bent keys). It does not replace the need for Annual Maintenance/ COAs

Key extensions and other modifications are done by assessment and estimate only.

If your instrument has been purchased from KJWR, valuations are provided free of charge for the life of the instrument.
For makers that are currently still in production. For discontinued models, the closest current model is used for valuation purposes.
Once a maker ceases production, valuations for those instruments are based on the closet current production brands and models.
