KJWR provides a unique support system for Canadian players of all levels by combining professional repair services, an extensive instrument and accessories selections, and Canada-wide trials in one place.

Instrument repair in Canada is available through both general music retailers and specialized technicians.
General music stores play an important role in the music community. They provide accessible rental programs and flexible options that allow players—especially beginners—to try different instruments as they develop their interests. Their repair departments primarily work on student level instruments, prioritizing servicing and maintaining their rental fleets.
Kim of KJWR Inc. has taken extensive additional training and certifications with almost a dozen top instrument manufacturers to provide extremely specialized care for flute, piccolo, oboe, and English horn. Ongoing collaboration with the instrument manufacturers helps ensure that current techniques, materials, and standards are reflected in KJWR's work.
At KJWR, the focus is on supporting players at all levels who are looking for a more detailed and consistent approach to repair and setup. As a professional technician who is also a professional player - all work is carried out from this combined perspective, with attention to how the instrument feels and responds in real use, and play tested using a wide variety of repertoire .
KJWR prioritizes attention to detail, consistency and working with players to ensure their instrument is working for them ... instead of against them.
KJWR provides Canada-wide repair and maintenance for flutes and piccolos, and local (in person drop off and pick up) repairs for oboe and English Horn. KJWR Inc. will expand to Canada-wide oboe and English horn general and COA service in late 2026.
KJWR Inc. provides all levels of service for flutes and piccolos including: general service (aka "triage care"), COAs and overhauls as well as custom modifications.

Shipping basics
KJWR offers new flutes, piccolos oft all levels, along with Canada-wide trials so players can compare options before making a decision. Unlike many Canadian retailers, KJWR Inc has an extensive stock of handmade / professional flutes and piccolo in stock and onsite, making in person and Canada-wide shipped trials easy
Because choosing a new instrument can often feel overwhelming, KJWR also offers pre-trial phone or Zoom appointments. This allows players (and their families etc.) to ask questions, discuss features, set pricing and set up trials that not only are the best use of their time - but also have the highest chance of leading a player to an instrument they love - within a price point that they are comfortable with. At no time will KJWR Inc. pressure players to try or buy anything outside of their set price limit.
As of mid 2026, KJWR Inc. will start carrying Fox oboes and English horns. Stock will primarily be aimed at the Renard line initially, specifically to provide accessibly priced instruments to newer players, that are still designed to last decades. (All Fox & Renard oboes come with a left F!) . Special orders will be welcome, with a deposit.
KJWR Inc. only sends new, ready to purchase instruments. There are no "demo stock" or "floor models" at KJWR Inc. and it's important that each player has the ability to have the experience of purchasing a new instrument. As such, shipped trials are only available for players who are actively ready to purchase. In-store trial appointments can be arranged for those still in the exploratory process.
Before a trial is sent:
If you purchase an instrument:
If not:
In-stock instruments are usually prepared and shipped within about 3-5 business days once everything is in place. If an item is backordered or is a special ordered you will be notified on an estimated delivery time once the item arrives at KJWR Inc.
Trials are typically 5 days from the date of pick up (either locally or at the secure pick up location if shipped) . It is expected that the player will check in with KJWR mid trial by email, text or phone.
Items kept beyond the trial date, without a written extension from KJWR will be billed in full for all items.
All returned instruments / headjoints must be returned in "as new" condition. And damaged or missing items will result in charges as outlined in the trial agreement.
